Release notes

What's new in Quick Topo — features, improvements and fixes, newest first.

19 October 2026

• Clean up a recorded approach — went the wrong way? Edit on any recorded approach opens it on a big map: drag points to move them, tap one to delete it or everything before or after it, or tap two to cut out the section between — then tap the map to draw the right way on. The same tools now work on a topo's approach tracks in Crag info.
• Reverse an approach — couldn't find the crag on the way in? Record the walk out instead, then press ⇄ Reverse to flip it to parking → crag. The ascent is recalculated for the new direction.
• Approaches follow your account — when you're signed in, recorded approaches are backed up to your account and show up on your other devices, so a walk-in recorded on your phone is ready to attach on your laptop. Each one shows whether it's backed up, and they stay private to you.
• Gate waypoint — drop a Gate pin while recording or editing an approach.
• Admin: an Approaches tab lists uploaded approaches with map and GPX links.

18 October 2026

• Visual version comparison — opening a snapshot in Version history now shows an interactive photo stage above the change list: added lines in green, changed lines in amber, and removed lines in red, with tabs for every affected photo. Toggle between Diff, Before and After overlays, click any change row to highlight that climb or annotation on the photo, or switch the comparison from vs Previous to vs Current workspace to see everything that has changed since that snapshot.
• Edit climbs in a table — a new Table button (T) at the top of the climbs list opens all your climbs in a spreadsheet-style grid. Tab between cells to edit names, disciplines, grades, stars, lengths, first ascents and descriptions in bulk, drag rows to reorder climbs, or paste rows straight from a spreadsheet to fill in or add climbs at once.
• Hidden / behind-feature line sections — when a climb disappears behind an arête, into a gully or under a roof, select it and press Mark hidden section (O) to dim that stretch of the line into a faint dotted path. Hidden stretches stay out of the way of number badges and belays, and clicking one in the editor restores it to normal.
• Record your walk-in with GPS — the new ⋮ menu on the home page (and the approach section in Crag info) opens Record approach and a library of Recorded approaches saved on your device. Record a live GPS track as you walk in from the parking with live distance, elapsed time, ascent and accuracy, drop preset waypoints along the path (Parking, Fork, Stile, Crag or a custom label), or import an existing .gpx file — then attach any saved walk-in to a topo or download it as GPX.
• Interactive approach elevation profile — approach tracks with elevation data now show a compact elevation sparkline alongside the walk-in distance and ascent in the crag card, and opening the crag map shows an interactive elevation chart you can scrub across to see the exact point and gradient on the path.
• Hold Shift to magnify on desktop — holding Shift over the photo in the editor opens a zoomed crosshair loupe around your cursor for placing points and anchors accurately on detailed rock.

17 October 2026

• Mention climbs and photos inside photo labels — text labels placed on the photo now support @-mentions just like descriptions and approach notes. Mentioned climbs, photos and stacks stay in sync when renamed or reordered, and tapping a label with a mention in the viewer jumps straight to what it names.
• Highball ! on boulder grades — boulders tagged Highball now show an exclamation mark after their grade (such as V5! or 7A!) in the climb list, on the photo and in exports.
• Crag condition tags — Crag info gains a Conditions tag group: pairs for Sheltered / Exposed, Sunny / Shady, and Fast-drying / Slow-drying, plus Rain-proof, Seepage and Buggy.
• Home map & quick climb entry — when location permission is already granted, the home-page map automatically frames a ~50-mile radius around you. In the editor, pressing ⌘Enter (or Ctrl+Enter) in a climb's description finishes editing and arms the draw tool for the next climb.
• Stay signed in for over a year — and sign out everywhere — your sign-in now renews as you use the app and lasts for up to 400 days since your last visit, so you're never caught signed out without signal at the crag. If you lose a phone, Your account → Advanced now has a Sign out everywhere button to revoke every other signed-in device at once.
• Security hardening across print orders, image imports, edit-link rotation and admin endpoints.

12 October 2026

• Smooth travel between photos — picking a climb on another photo (from the climb list, a mention chip or the keyboard) now smoothly backs out to the full photo, slides across to the climb's photo and zooms in, instead of cutting abruptly.

11 October 2026

• Smooth zoom to climb — selecting a climb or pitch with Zoom to the climb when selected turned on (and double-clicking to zoom or fit in the viewer) now glides smoothly to the target view. Any scroll, pinch or pan interrupts the glide immediately, and prefers-reduced-motion keeps the instant jump.
• Note coordinates open on the crag map — coordinates in climb descriptions and approach or access notes now open on the topo's own annotated Map page with an orange From the notes pin alongside the crag, parking, photos and walk-in, instead of jumping straight out to an external map app. Downloaded topos save the map tiles around note coordinates too, so the link works offline.

8 October 2026

• Readable climb badges at every zoom — climb numbers on the photo now keep a comfortable minimum on-screen size when zoomed out to fit (18px on phones, 16px on desktop), so tightly packed crags stay legible without having to zoom in first.
• Bottom-sheet filters on /topos — on phones, the /topos page now tucks its filters into a slide-up sheet with a compass grid for aspect, a live Show N topos button, and removable pills for active filters.
• Streamlined phone home screen — returning visitors on phones get a compact header and a floating New topo button that goes straight to your crags without scrolling past the intro banner.

7 October 2026

• Floating sync status pill & session log — the save and sync indicator now floats over the corner of the photo: red while saved only on this device (or if a sync failed), orange while syncing, and green once backed up, settling to a small green tick after a few seconds. Tap it at any time to see the current backup state and a detailed log of every sync in this session.
• One-row phone toolbar & touch magnifier loupe — the editor's toolbar on phones now fits on a single row of icon buttons, and dragging an anchor point, descent point or arrow tip with your finger shows a magnified crosshair loupe above your thumb so you can see the exact hold you're dropping it on.

6 October 2026

• Access links & seasonal access restrictions — Crag info can now record a definitive access link (shown first under Access) and one or more seasonal restrictions with a status (Banned, Partial, Conditions or Advisory), a yearly date range, and notes (with @-mentions). When a restriction is in force — or within 30 days of starting — the viewer shows a banner across the top of the photo that opens the access details on tap and can be dismissed for the session. Out-of-season restrictions stay listed quietly for reference, and all access details carry through to print and image/PDF exports.
• Prev / Next in climb details — step straight to the previous or next climb in guidebook order from the top of the climb details pane, in both the editor and the viewer.

4 October 2026

• Grades on mention chips — @-mentioning a climb now includes its grade in the chip (1 Stagedivin' 6b+ in the viewer, and 1. Stagedivin' (6b+) in print and exports).

30 September 2026

• Choose which climb a branch starts from — when you start drawing on a shared lower section where two climbs with different starts have already joined, a small chooser lets you pick which climb your new line or variation belongs to.
• Reliable background photo uploads — photos added to a shared topo are now queued persistently on your device until their upload finishes, so closing a tab or losing signal mid-upload automatically retries when you reopen the topo. New topos also start with Colour by grade turned off by default so busy walls stay easy to read out of the box.

29 September 2026

• Climb grade tags: Soft, Hard & Slash — qualify a climb's grade with Soft (6a (soft)), Hard (6a (hard)) or Slash (6a/6a+ or V5/V6, automatically using the next grade up in the topo's grade system; UK trad slashes the adjectival grade, e.g. E8/E9 6c).
• One /topos page: All · Mine · Favourites · Downloaded — My topos and the public directory now live together on /topos with a four-way view toggle, a sort order menu (newest created, recently updated, or alphabetical), and a search box in the top bar of the home page. Saving someone else's topo to your library is now called ♥ Favourite.
• Smart names for untitled photos — photos you haven't named yet now take the name of their first climb in the photo strip and headings instead of a generic Photo 1, and climb-list number badges widen cleanly into pills for three-digit climb numbers.

28 September 2026

• Undo & anchor shortcuts — pressing ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z while drawing a line removes the last point just like Backspace, and double-clicking or double-tapping a selected line adds an anchor point (or removes one when you double-click/tap an existing anchor).
• Per-discipline line ends & sliding crag info — boulder problems now offer Top out, Drop off and None for their line end (while routes offer Top out, Lower off and None), and Approach & access opens in the full-height detail pane on desktop just as it does on phones.

27 September 2026

• Satellite view — every map now has a Satellite button in its corner: the crag map, the map on the home page, and the pickers for setting a location or drawing an approach track. Seeing the actual crag, paths and parking from above makes it much easier to drop a pin in the right place. Your choice is remembered. Satellite imagery needs signal, so offline the button is greyed out and the map shows the street map saved with your downloaded topo, switching back to satellite when you're online again.

18 September 2026

• Manage device storage — Your account is now organised into General, Storage and Advanced tabs. The new Storage tab shows how much space Quick Topo is using on this device (your own topos, downloaded topos, offline map tiles and the app itself), explains when your browser might clear cached data, lets you request persistent storage where supported, and lets you remove downloaded topos individually or in bulk.
• Per-element text & symbol styling — the Style dialog now gives Climb labels, Grade labels, Text labels, the Topo title and Belays & abseils their own size and colour controls, and new topos pick starting line and label sizes matched to the first photo's resolution.

16 September 2026

• Browse by country & climbing region — located public topos are automatically tagged with their climbing region (such as the Peak District, Fontainebleau, Frankenjura or Yosemite) and can be browsed on dedicated country and region pages at /topos/:country and /topos/:country/:region.
• Report reasons — Report this topo in the viewer now lets you pick a reason and add a note so issues can be reviewed quickly.

14 September 2026

• Custom cover image — Choose cover photo in the Style dialog lets you pick any of the topo's photos or upload a separate cover image (such as a landscape shot of the crag) for topo cards, link previews and the front cover of printed booklets.

9 September 2026

• Printed booklets & interactive book preview — shared topos gain a leafable 3D book preview at /print/:id and, where enabled, an Order a printed copy option in the Print dialog for an A5 saddle-stitched booklet printed and posted by Peecho. Booklets include a front cover, contents page, a How to read this guide legend drawn with the topo's own styles, location QR codes on each photo page, an alphabetical climb index with tick boxes, a graded list, and ruled Notes pages at the back.

8 September 2026

• Print a guidebook — Print… in the export dialog now lays out a proper document: an introduction page with the topo at a glance (how many climbs of each type, the spread of grades and stars), the about, approach and access notes with a map of the crag, parking and walk-in, and QR codes for the interactive topo, the crag and the parking; then a page per photo with the topo on top and that photo's climb table beneath (or on its own page). Page numbers sit centred at the foot of each page. Pick A4, A5 or US Letter, portrait or landscape, and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog for a file. Readers get the same Print in the viewer's ⋮ menu with the same choices — ⌘/Ctrl+P there opens it too — so a shared topo comes out just as well on paper, and from a downloaded topo it works offline, map included.
• Offline, complete — with a topo downloaded, its image export now works without signal too (it uses the downloaded photo when the full-size original isn't on the device), and the public topos page and user guide open offline as well.
• The map works offline — a downloaded topo now saves its Map page and the map tiles around the crag, parking and approach track along with the photos, so the annotated map opens without signal at the crag. Zooming in past street level or panning far from the topo still needs a connection; the map says so when it can't load tiles.
• Mention climbs and photos in your text — type @ in a climb's description, a pitch note, or the approach and access notes and pick another climb from the list (or, on a multi-photo topo, a photo or a stack). "Start as for @Stagedivin', then step right." Readers see a small chip that always carries the climb's current number and name — rename or reorder your climbs and every mention follows — and tapping it highlights that climb, or flips to that photo, just as if they had tapped it themselves. Exports print the name in place of the chip. Mentions only ever point within the same topo.
• A description for the whole topo — Crag info gains a Description field above the approach notes: a paragraph about the crag or the wall, the rock, the style, when it's in condition. It shows in the viewer's crag-info card (now titled About & approach when there is one) just under the map links and walk-in stats, leads the printed and PDF exports, and becomes the text shown when the topo's link is shared. Mentions work here too.

27 August 2026

• Draw a climb more than once — the same climb often shows up in several photos. In the climb's details there's now a Draw another line button: the climb stays selected while you switch to another photo (or stay on the same one, for a second angle) and draw it again. The extra line wears the climb's number, colour and style, tapping it in the viewer highlights the whole climb, and it never shows up as a separate entry in the climb list.
• Number variations your way — Settings gains a Variation numbering option: the usual 1, 1a, 1b, or give every line its own number (1, 2, 3, with variations numbered straight after their climb). It's per topo, and saves with your account defaults like the other settings.
• Downloaded topos keep themselves up to date — when you're back online, the app quietly checks the topos saved on your device against the latest versions and refreshes any the author has changed, fetching only the photos that actually changed.
• A real topo in link previews — sharing quick-topo.app itself now unfurls with an actual topo image instead of the old placeholder.

16 August 2026

• Fast on one bar of signal — poor reception at the crag used to leave the app waiting on the network for pages it already had saved. Anything on your device — downloaded topos, your topo lists, the app itself — now appears within a few seconds even when the connection is crawling, with the network checked quietly in the background for anything newer. Your sign-in and preferences (units, walking pace, map app) are remembered on the device too, so they apply instantly instead of waiting for the network.
• Control how much a topo downloads — a new Download option in the viewer's ⋮ menu lets you pick the image quality saved to your device (Original, High or Medium, with the real download size shown for each) and, on mixed crags, choose which climb types to include — leaving Sport unticked skips its photos entirely. The topo then shows exactly what's on your device, with the climb list renumbered to match and the type filter shown locked so it's clear why. There's also a "Remove from device" button to free the space back up. The download badges on topo cards (home, My topos, and the public directory) open the same options.
• Climb tags — climbs can now carry tags, starting with Sit Start, Eliminate and Highball, toggled in the climb form. Tags that only make sense for one climb type stay scoped to it (Sit Start and Highball are boulder-only), and they show on the climb's details in the viewer and in exports.
• Friendlier dates on topo cards — cards now say "16th Aug" (or "10th Jul 2025" for older topos) instead of a full numeric date, formatted for your language.
• Filters clean up the photo too — narrowing the climb list (filters or search) now hides the hidden climbs' lines and numbers on the photo as well, so the wall shows exactly what the list shows. Shared sections stay drawn wherever a visible climb runs along them, and tapping one selects the visible climb.
• Smoother editor start on big topos — opening a many-photo topo in the editor used to stutter while photos were prepared in the background. That preparation now waits for a quiet moment (and does its heavy lifting off the main thread), so early pans and zooms stay smooth.

15 August 2026

• QR codes on demand — the share dialog no longer shows a QR code inline. Each link gets a small QR button next to Copy that opens the code big and scannable, in the editor and the viewer alike.
• Delete means delete — deleting a backed-up topo used to remove only this device's copy, leaving the hosted one listed (with a blurrier server thumbnail), which looked like the delete hadn't worked. Deleting now asks what you mean — Delete everywhere or Only this device — and topos that live only in your account get a delete button on their card too.
• No more lines over the wrong photo — on a slow connection, flipping to a photo that hasn't downloaded yet used to draw the new photo's climb lines over the old image. The lines now wait for the photo, with a spinner while it loads.
• Search the climb list — bigger crags get a search button next to the filter funnel: type part of a climb's name or grade and the list narrows as you go. It plays with the filters (searching within “boulder problems only” searches only boulder problems), the photo strip tucks away while you type to make room, and × or Escape brings everything back.
• Climb details slide in on desktop too — the › arrow from the phone view now works everywhere: climb details open in a pane over the list, so you never lose your place scrolling back. The editor got the same treatment — selecting a climb slides its form in over the climbs list instead of making you scroll to the bottom.
• See big topos downloading — opening a topo on a new device now shows “Downloading photos — 2 of 6…” instead of appearing to do nothing while the photos arrive.
• New climbs land where they belong — a climb drawn on a photo now slots into the list right after that photo's other climbs (and is numbered accordingly), instead of always dropping to the bottom of the whole list.
• Better slowdown reports — the “Performance debugging” switch in account settings is now a usage trace: while it's on, the app notes what you do on this device (taps, pans, photo flips) and how long each one takes to draw, so a slow moment can be pinned to the exact interaction that caused it. Same promise as before — climb names and photos are never recorded, everything stays on your device, and you download the data yourself to attach to a report.
• Room for many more photos — a topo can now hold up to 50 photos when you're signed in (up from 12). Without an account the limit is 10, and topos that already have more keep working — they just can't grow further until you sign in.
• Placing a pin? Your other pins are on the map — the location pickers for the crag, parking and photos now show the topo's existing pins for orientation, and placing a new pin opens the map framed around them, so everything lands where it belongs on the first try.
• Filter the climb list — bigger crags get a small funnel button on the climb list. It opens a filter panel: pick climb types, grades and star ratings (each discipline gets its own grade list) and the list narrows as you tap. The funnel lights up with a count while filters are on, and “Show all climbs” brings everything back.
• Map pins now open their photo — on the crag map, tapping a photo's pin offers “Open photo in topo”, jumping straight to that wall in the viewer.
• The map stays in one window — the Map link opens in the same tab and the map gains a “Back to topo” button, so hopping between the topo and the map no longer piles up browser tabs. Pin labels also spread out around their pins instead of overlapping when photos sit close together.
• A tidier “Approach & access” — the coordinate links (crag, parking, each located photo) now live in one compact Pins menu: Map · Pins · GPX, however many photos a topo has.
• Fixed: links in the phone detail pane now use the site's colours instead of the browser's default blue and purple.
• Fixed: on topos with many photos, scrolling the viewer's photo strip no longer zooms the photo underneath — sideways swipes and the mouse wheel now scroll the strip, while pinch still zooms.
• Under the hood: a codebase cleanup pass — dead code and stale docs removed, and the map page's script now updates in lockstep with the rest of the app after a deploy.
• One editor, one viewer — the editor's View/Edit toggle is gone. The editor now always edits, and a new View button opens your topo's public page — exactly what anyone with the link sees, down to the climb you had selected. Coming the other way, if a topo is yours (or shared with you as an editor), its public page's ⋮ menu now has an Edit entry that takes you straight back to the editor.
• Climbs that share a mid-section — a climb can now start on its own, join another line for a stretch, then leave it and finish elsewhere: the join menu gains “Follow, then leave…” — click where the climb leaves the shared line and keep drawing.
• Pick which way “Follow to end” goes — when the line you join branches higher up, the menu now lists each possible finish by climb name, so a merge low on a shared start takes exactly the top you meant.
• Choose a cover photo — on multi-photo topos, Settings can make the photo you're viewing the cover: the image shown on topo cards and link previews. The photo order itself never changes — it follows the crag's real layout.
• Tidier trad grades on the photo — two-part trad grades (“E1 5b”) show just the first part under the climb number, so labels on close-together climbs stop colliding. The climb list and details still show the full grade.
• Enter finishes the climb — even mid-typing — naming a climb while drawing it and pressing Enter now completes the line, the same as the Done button.

12 August 2026

• How long is the walk-in? — approach tracks now show their distance, elevation gain and an estimated walking time (“1.4 km · ↑ 210 m · ~38 min”). Heights are looked up automatically when you draw the track, and signed-in users can set a slow / normal / fast walking pace in account settings to tune the estimate.
• Climb details get their own pane on phones — tapping a climb's › now slides a full-height detail pane over the list: name, grade, description and every pitch laid out with room to read, instead of a cramped in-list fold. Tap a pitch to highlight it on the photo; your phone's Back button closes the pane. “Approach & access” opens in the same pane, so long approach notes no longer fight the climb list for space.
• Smoother and faster on phones — tapping a climb highlights it without rebuilding the whole list, opening a shared topo in the editor no longer freezes while photos are prepared, and pinch-zooming waits for your fingers to stop before sharpening the photo, so mid-gesture stutters are gone.
• See yourself on the map — the crag map can show your live position: tap the locate button for a blue dot that follows you along the walk-in, with buttons to jump between your position and the crag. The map explains what your location is used for before your browser asks, and the choice can be changed later in account settings.
• The climb list follows the photos — on phones, flipping to another photo scrolls the list to that photo's climbs.
• Open topos in a new tab from My topos — ctrl/cmd-click, shift-click and middle-click on a topo card now behave like they would on a real link.
• Shareable addresses in the editor too — the editor's view mode keeps the selected climb in the URL, so copying the address bar captures exactly what you're looking at.
• Admin: the topos table now shows each topo's total stored image size.

9 August 2026

• One map with everything on it — the “Approach & access” section now leads with a single “Map” link showing the crag, every parking spot and each located photo together on an OpenStreetMap view, with labelled pins and a jump to Google Maps for directions.
• Draw the walk-in — sketch approach tracks over the map from the crag info dialog (click to add points, undo, name the track). Tracks appear on the map page and are included in the GPX download, so GPS apps show the actual path, not just the endpoints.
• Climb lines without JavaScript — a shared topo page's instant summary now shows the drawn climbs over the photo, not just the bare crag shot, both while the viewer loads and for readers without JavaScript.
• Reorder variations — drag a variation up or down within its climb to change its order; the 1a/1b labels follow. Variations stay with their climb — they can't be dragged onto another one.
• Bigger, smarter map dialogs — on desktop the map window now uses most of the screen, and while drawing an approach track you can see the crag, parking and photo pins you're threading between.
• Pick your map app — signed in? Choose whether coordinate links open in Google Maps, Apple Maps, OpenStreetMap or Bing Maps, in account settings. Applies to crag, parking and photo links everywhere, including the pins in approach notes.
• Steadier page loads — the home page, My topos and the public directory now show placeholder cards while your topos load, so the page doesn't jump around on slow connections.

8 August 2026

• Freer variation drawing — variations no longer have to start on the parent's line. Draw from anywhere: joining another climb's line makes it a variation of that climb, and finishing free keeps it as its own climb. Drawing a variation off another variation now attaches it to the main climb, so labels stay simple (1a, 1b, …).
• Abseil marker — a new annotation for abseil points: an “a” in a circle with a small down arrow. Find it in the Annotate menu.

7 August 2026

• Multiple parking locations — crags with more than one sensible place to park can now list them all. Add extra parking spots in the crag info dialog; each shows up as its own map link in the viewer, a waypoint in the GPX download, and a QR code on image exports.

6 August 2026

• Topo pages load with content, not a blank screen — a shared topo's page now shows the crag photo, climb list and approach notes immediately while the interactive viewer starts up, and works as a readable summary even without JavaScript. Search engines see each public topo's climbs too, so your listed topos are easier to find.
• Richer link previews and search descriptions across the site.

3 August 2026

• Smoother photo switching on phones — flipping between a topo's photos no longer briefly loads the full-resolution image, which caused visible stutters on mobile. Zooming in and back out quickly wastes less work too.

2 August 2026

• Performance debugging — if Quick Topo feels slow on your phone, you can now help us pin it down: turn on recording under your account settings, use the app as normal, then come back and download what was captured to attach to a report. Everything stays on your device until you choose to share it.

26 July 2026

• Multi-pitch climbs — break a climb into pitches by clicking its line where each belay is. Every pitch takes its own grade, length and notes, the climb's overall grade and length work themselves out from them, and belay rings with pitch numbers are drawn on the photo. Tap a pitch to see just that stretch highlighted — in the viewer, in exports, and in the app.

25 July 2026

• Mobile viewer rework — the climbs panel is now a draggable bottom sheet with peek, half and full heights; a climb's details expand in place under its row, selections scroll into view, and Approach & access can no longer push the list off-screen.
• Enhance action in the Image panel — clean up a low-resolution or noisy crag photo in place, right from the editor.
• Drag & drop photos — drop a photo onto the home page to start a new topo, or onto an open topo to add it as another photo.

21 July 2026

• Shareable addresses as you browse — the viewer keeps the selected climb in the URL, and the editor's address bar reflects the open topo once it's backed up, so copying the address bar always captures what you're looking at.
• Filmstrip photo cards in the viewer get a clearer outline for the selected photo.

20 July 2026

• Developer ZIP export — download a topo as a bundle of its photos, a per-photo SVG overlay, and a topo.json data file, for use in guidebooks or your own tools.
• Light/Dark appearance toggle for the whole app.
• Star ratings, rounded out — an optional hollow/black star style, stars shown in the climbs list, and stars that follow the app theme.
• Topo cards load with a soft blur-up preview instead of a blank flash on hard refresh.
• Under the hood: faster test suites, a tidier sync engine, single-sourced database migrations, and stricter serving of uploaded images.

19 July 2026

• Export upgrades — copy an image straight to the clipboard, WebP output, a print option, and a social-preview image.
• Readable, stable links — topo pages get canonical slugged URLs, and each climb has a stable link of the form ?climb=name-id.
• Meters or feet — a per-user length-unit preference; each climb remembers the unit it was entered in.
• Star scale per topo — choose 0–3, 0–4 or 0–5 stars, with an account-wide default.
• Better variations — variation badges show a labelled dot ('3a') with the grade at the branch point, and badges are offset clear of the lines. Selecting a climb that joins another highlights its full climbing line to the top.
• Paste coordinates into notes or descriptions and they auto-link as map pins.
• Crag info modal accepts more location formats and got a roomier layout.
• Cross-device sync is more robust, and My Topos was rebuilt in the public-directory style.
• Mixed-resolution topos handle per-photo sizes correctly.
• New user guide, privacy policy and terms of use pages.
• Deleting a hosted topo is now a soft delete, so accidental deletions can be recovered.
• All user-facing text now says "climbs" rather than "routes".
• Fixes: filmstrip thumbnails respond to clicks again; better button-text contrast; long topo names no longer overflow.

18 July 2026

• Faster pan and zoom, especially on large topos — smoother transforms and fewer repaints while navigating.
• Big photos load a ~2K version first and fetch full resolution only when you zoom in far enough to need it.
• Fixes: solo editors no longer see false "someone else updated this" conflicts; following a line to its end after a merge goes the right way.

17 July 2026

• User accounts — optional magic-link sign-in (no passwords). Accounts tie your topos together across devices, record ownership and attribution, and sync your work.
• Complete-in-place sign-in — open the emailed link on any device and the tab you started from signs itself in.
• Revision history — hosted topos keep snapshots you can browse and restore.
• Ownership model — only the owner can manage a shared topo; other contributors are recorded as editors.
• Light mode, plus embed options for theme and pre-selected climb, and account-level topo defaults.
• Optional per-photo crag coordinates in the Crag info modal.
• Clearer storage status: sync and download badges, a backup nudge, and a QR code for the edit link.
• Signing in on a fresh device shows your account topos on the home page straight away.
• Draft durability: safer saves when closing a tab, protection against one tab clobbering another, and photo recovery.

10 July 2026

• Multi-photo topos — a topo can span several photos of the crag, with smooth line joins and placeholder climb annotation.

9 July 2026

• Tags — controlled tags on topos (automatic and manual), shown as compact pills on cards, with multi-select filter dropdowns in the directory.

7 July 2026

• Offline support — Quick Topo is an installable app: the app itself and any shared topo you've visited keep working without signal, with offline badges on cards and an "Available offline" chip in the viewer.
• GPX download for crag waypoints, a share button in the viewer, and an iframe embed mode for putting topos on your own site.
• Climbing and approach lines get a dark halo so they stay readable on busy rock.
• My Topos gains a search bar and a cleaner card layout with description lines.
• A per-topo setting for whether selecting a climb zooms to it (applies in the viewer too).
• Fixes: cancelling mid-draw is reliable in every state; image rotate/flip/save operations no longer race each other; smoother dragging on complex topos.
• Under the hood: one shared renderer for crag info across viewer, side panel and dialog, plus proper favicons everywhere (including exports).

6 July 2026

• Mobile editing — bottom-sheet panels, a burger menu, bigger touch targets, and a segmented View/Edit toolbar that fits a phone.
• Photo editing — rotate, flip, crop, brightness, contrast and saturation on the base image.
• New climbs inherit the previous climb's discipline, grade and line-end style, so drawing a row of similar climbs is quick.
• Crag location prefills from the photo's GPS data, and form focus survives panel rebuilds.

5 July 2026

• Public topo directory at /topos — browse published topos, with external crag links and proper search-engine listings.
• The home page gains My Topos, Public Topos and Map sections.
• Deep water solo joins the discipline list.
• Location fields accept coordinates in most common formats, validated as you type; crag links show the site name as the link text.

3 July 2026 — first release

• The editor — draw climbs on a crag photo with branching, merging and variations; grade pickers; annotations and text styling.
• The interactive viewer — tap a climb on the photo or in the list to highlight it, with keyboard navigation and a shortcuts overlay.
• Sharing — host a topo and share view or edit links, with conflict detection when two people edit at once.
• Exports — PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF and a self-contained HTML file, with a details panel and an Export button in the viewer.
• Crag info with a map picker, grade labels on lines, inline title rename, first-ascent details, and a collapsible approach section with readable share URLs.
