Terms of use

The short version. Quick Topo is a free tool for making and sharing climbing topos. You keep ownership of the topos and photos you create; by sharing or publishing them you give us permission to host and show them. Don't upload things you don't have the rights to, or anything illegal or abusive.

Topos are made by users and are not verified by us — climbing is dangerous, so never rely on a topo alone for your safety.

These terms are an agreement between you and Quick Topo ("we", "us", "the service"), operated from the United Kingdom, and they govern your use of the site at quick-topo.app. By using the service you accept these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service. They work alongside our Privacy policy, which explains how we handle data.

1. Using the service

Quick Topo is free to use, and you can create, save and export topos without an account. You may optionally create an account (by email) so your topos follow you across devices. You are responsible for anything done through your account and for keeping your sign-in email and any private edit links secure. You must be old enough to agree to these terms in your country (generally 13+, or older where local law requires).

2. Your content

"Your content" means the photos, drawings, text and other information you add to a topo. You keep ownership of your content.

So that the service can work, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, adapt (for example to generate previews, thumbnails and exports) and display your content for the purpose of operating and providing Quick Topo. If you choose to list a topo publicly, that licence extends to showing it publicly on the site, in our public directory and to search engines. This licence lasts only as long as your content is on the service — it ends when you delete the content (subject to short-lived backups and version history clearing in the normal course, and to copies others may have exported or downloaded).

You confirm that, for everything you upload, you either created it or have the necessary rights and permissions — including for the photographs (you took them, or have the photographer's permission) and for any people or private land they show. You must not upload content that infringes anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Quick Topo to create, upload, share or link to content that:

is unlawful, or infringes the intellectual property, privacy or other rights of others;
is abusive, harassing, defamatory, deceptive, or discloses other people's personal information without their consent;
contains malware, or is used to attack, disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service or its infrastructure;
impersonates others or misrepresents your affiliation;
deliberately publishes dangerously false safety information, or misuses the service to endanger others.

Please also respect other climbers, landowners and access arrangements when adding location, approach and access information.

4. Safety & accuracy — please read

Climbing, bouldering and related activities are inherently dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. Topos on Quick Topo are created by users. We do not create, check, verify or endorse them, and they may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date — including grades, protection and gear, belay and descent information, heights, hazards, and access or land-ownership details.

You use topos and any information on the service entirely at your own risk. Never rely on a topo alone: use your own judgement, appropriate skills, training and equipment, up-to-date guidebooks and local knowledge, and check current access and conditions. You are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of anyone in your party.

5. Public listings and community content

When you list a topo publicly it becomes visible to anyone and may be indexed by search engines. Content that other users publish is their responsibility, not ours, and we don't endorse it. If you see content that breaks these terms, use the Report this topo link on the topo, or contact us (§9).

6. Copyright & takedowns

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on Quick Topo infringes your copyright or other rights, contact us at privacy@quick-topo.app with: your contact details; identification of the content (a link to the topo); a description of the right you hold and how it is infringed; and a statement that your complaint is made in good faith. We will review valid notices and remove or disable access to infringing content where appropriate, and we may remove content and suspend accounts of repeat infringers.

7. Our rights over the service

The Quick Topo name, software, design and branding are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws; these terms don't give you any rights in them beyond using the service. We may remove or disable content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that we reasonably believe breach these terms or the law, or that create risk for other users or for us. We may also change, suspend or discontinue the service, or any part of it, at any time.

8. Disclaimers & liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that content (including topos, maps and location data) is accurate or reliable. As a free service, you use it at your discretion and risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service or any content on it, including any decisions or actions taken in reliance on a topo. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law. Nothing in these terms affects your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Changes, law and contact

We may update these terms as the service evolves; material changes will be shown here with a new "last updated" date, and your continued use means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales — except that, if you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections and courts of the country where you live.
